Founder of Meraki Studio
Welcome to Meraki Studio! My name is Sara. I am a mother, wife, full-time employee, and passionate candle maker based in kuwait. My journey into the world of arts and crafts began during my university years. I found that working with my hands was a therapeutic escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Over the years, I explored various crafts, always searching for something that resonated deeply with me.
One day, as I was scrolling through Instagram for DIY ideas, I stumbled upon the mesmerizing world of candle making. The beauty of the shapes and how they could elevate any space instantly captivated me. I was intrigued by the idea that such artistry could be created at home. For several months, I experimented with decorative candle making, finding joy in the challenge and fulfillment in the final products. Despite the intricacies of the process, the therapeutic nature of the craft kept me engaged and motivated.
It wasn’t until my husband admired one of my candles that I considered turning this passion into a business. The thought of creating unique, handmade pieces for others who share the same love for artisanal items excited me. In our modern age, where mass production often leads to uniformity, I wanted to offer something different—pieces that have their own story and are made with love and care.
Meraki Studio was born from my desire to share this new found passion with others. The word meraki is of Greek origin, meaning to do something with soul, creativity, or love—to put a piece of yourself into your work. This perfectly encapsulates what I aim to achieve with every candle I create. Each piece is a labor of love, crafted to bring a sense of peace and tranquility to your home.
My inspiration for candle colors comes from the raw, natural materials around us: the sun, sand, and sunsets. These earthy tones reflect the beauty of the natural world and bring a sense of tranquility into any home. At Meraki Studio, I aim to raise awareness and appreciation for handmade, small-batch items. Each candle is crafted with dedication, ensuring that no two pieces are exactly alike. They embody the love and care that goes into creating something truly special.
